The Sound of Music won six Tony awards when it debuted. The musical is set in Austria in the late 1930s. The war is coming and the free-spirited Maria, training to be a nun at an abbey, becomes a governess to seven children in the home of a widowed navy captain. She brings a new love of life and music into the hearts of each of the children and the strict Captain Von Trapp. Based on the true story of the Von Trapp Family Singers.
